Accounts Receivable/Collections Clerk

Books-A-Million, Inc. has an immediate opening for an Accounts Receivable/Collections clerk at their Home Office located in Birmingham, Alabama.







Books-A-Million, Inc. is the third largest book retailer in the nation and also sells on the internet at booksamillion.com. We operate more than 200 stores in 18 states and the District of Columbia under the names of Books A Million, Bookland, Joe Muggs Newsstand, and Books and Company.







Duties include:




Invoicing, reconciliation, and collection of commercial accounts.
Notifies or locates commercial accounts with delinquent accounts and attempts to secure payment.
Confers with commercial accounts by telephone in attempt to determine reason for overdue payment, reviewing terms of sales, service, or credit contract with customer.
Researches and processes customer claims of invoice payment.
Answers accounts receivable phone inquiries and follows up.
Assists with related special projects, as required







Minimum Requirements:




Prior experience in Accounts Receivable and/or Collections.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products including Excel.
Positive background check and negative drug test.
Excellent communications skills.
Attention to detail.
Ability to work independently using the AS/400 system is a plus.
