Audit Associate

KPMG LLP is the audit, tax and advisory firm with the strongest growth record over the past decade. We offer our clients industry insights and a multidisciplinary range of services. We are currently seeking an Audit Associate to join us in our Birmingham office.
KPMG's Audit practice uses a methodology that transforms the audit process from a traditional compliance-driven function to a risk-based approach by creating a framework for auditors to assess how a client's business risks affect financial statements. This approach offers a more comprehensive view of how a client's unique risk environment affects its financial reporting.



Responsibilities:
- Execute the day-to-day activities of audit engagements of various clients, including SEC registrants
- Participate in the review of client SEC filings
- Identify and communicate accounting and auditing matters to Audit Senior Associates, Managers and Partners
- Identify performance improvement opportunities
- Interact with clients to help ensure that the information flow from the client to the audit team is efficient

Qualifications:
- One year of current and/or recent (within two years) audit experience in public accounting
- BA/BS degree from an accredited college/university
- Meet 150 hour educational requirements to be eligible for CPA or be eligible for reciprocity from another state
- Applied working knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and accounting procedures
- Able to meet challenging client requirements, provide services, and possess strong communication, interpersonal, analytical, and research abilities
- Willing to travel
