Commercial Collections Specialist

Position Type: Temporary

Tempe manufacturing company is searching for a commercial collections specialist. This person's responsibilites are as follows: Opens new accounts, credit approves all orders as assigned, and notifies or locates customers with delinquent accounts and attempts to secure payment by performing the following duties.

Confers with customers by telephone in an attempt to determine reasons for overdue payment, reviewing terms of sales, service, or credit contract with customer.

Records information about financial status of customers and status of collection efforts.


Reviews credit applications and researches all listed information to establish credit lines.

Enters new accounts and updates of customer account information into the system address book.

Sorts and files correspondence.

May grant extensions of credit.

May process 10-day demand and NSF letters.

May process account to legal.

Make decisions as to shipping or holding orders.

Negotiates payment schedules with customers in order to receive past due amounts on account balances.

Investigates accounts with discrepancies between payment received and amounts billed.

Reports monthly on all accounts with balances due in excess of 30 days and action plan for restoring them to monthly status.

Sends customer proofs of delivery, duplicate invoices and any other information as requested.

May calculates total COD charges (which include cost of product, freight, and sales tax) calls customers with COD amount, and enters information into computer.

Beeps sales reps with hold information.

Performs other duties as required.
