Federal Tax Senior Associate

We are currently seeking a Tax Senior Associate to join us in our Birmingham office.
KPMG's Federal Tax Services Practice is a resource for clients that need help complying with the latest IRS rules and regulations. Our tax professionals who handle federal tax issues bring the experience and commitment necessary to deliver tax compliance and advisory services to help meet our clients' specific needs.
KPMG's Federal Tax Services Practice offers a broad range of capabilities in the following areas:
- Compliance and Advisory Services: comprehensive day-to-day tax advisory services, tax compliance services, regulatory representation, and tax provision preparation and review
- Accounting Methods and Credit Services: tax accounting services, research and experimentation tax credit review, and fixed asset review
- Mergers and Acquisitions: due diligence, acquisition and disposition tax planning, and services related to troubled companies
- Tax Controversy Services: tax court services and alternative dispute resolution services
- Tax Management Services: tax operational analysis, tax outsourcing, and tax technology
- Tax Planning for Tax-Exempt Organizations: tax management, transactions and reorganizations, advocacy, and compliance
Responsibilities:
- Support tax managers and partners in the day-to-day management of the client's portfolio
- Primarily responsible for the overall engagement planning and job administration
- Responsible for defined elements of assigned engagements of increasing complexity
- Understand and assist with the budgeting, billing, and collection processes, as necessary
- Audit basic to complex tax provisions
- Perform a thorough review of working papers to help ensure that conclusions have been supported and firm policies have been met
- Execute various aspects of compliance with moderate to minimum direction from management
- Recognize, research, and recommend resolutions for moderate to complex tax issues with little or no supervision
- Develop and support risk assessments and help implement appropriate tax procedures
- Prepare budgets for less complex engagements
- Develop strong relationships with client employees and management
Qualifications:
- Three years of current and/or recent tax experience in public accounting
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college/university
- Applied working knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), accounting procedures, C-Corp tax regulations, and FAS-109
- Experience reviewing 1120, 1120S, and 1065 tax returns
- Ability to meet challenging client requirements, provide services, and possess strong communication, interpersonal, analytical, and research abilities.
