This position provides a transition from reporting into analysis as the incumbent is responsible for assembling the foundational data and analytics required for monthly and special project analysis. The position will primarily support monthly financial analysis activities and must be able to understand our business and accounting issues, assist in the creation and distribution of periodic management reporting packages, and proactively identify and communicate key issues. The analyst will work closely with the financial analyst managers and must have a strong knowledge of financial reporting and systems so s/he is able to proficiently pull required data from the appropriate sources. Strong computer skills are also required to efficiently assemble and manipulate masses of data.
The analyst will also assist with special project analysis and provide back-up support of assigned vice-presidents. For the right candidate, this position will provide a strong foundation in core analytic skills that can be leveraged into more advanced analysis activities.
Support the monthly financial analysis activities of TDS.
-Assemble financial and operational statistics in support of a variety of analyses: financial performance, budget variance, cost center analysis, business case, etc
-Assist in the analysis of financial reports, review monthly comparative financial statements, comparing actual results to budgeted results, helps investigate anomalies, and prepare variance explanations.
-Help prepare monthly analysis of products/service lines and assist with analysis in preparation of product line budgets and forecasts
-Assist other analysis activities of the company
-Develop preliminary business cases, creating economic/financial computer models for evaluating complex business decisions
-Assist with special analyses to support strategic decisions, focusing on new and existing product/service lines as well as operational initiatives.
-Assist in providing financial analyses and guidance to a various vice presidents to facilitate data based decision-making and act as a liaison to ensure business unit finance needs are met. With experience move into a lead role with assigned VP
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree -OR- equivalent experience in Finance, engineering, Accounting or a business related field.
2 or more years of professional business experience.
Other Qualifications:
-Advanced degree is a plus.
Knowledge of:
-Advanced knowledge of financial reporting and financial systems (e.g., SAP) a plus.
-Statistics and ratios: calculation and usage
Proficiency in:
-Personal computer applications, especially Excel
-Mid-level skill in Word and PowerPoint
-Analytical skills
-Attention to detail
