Senior Accounts Receivable Accountant

Overall Responsibilities:
Books-A-Million, Inc. has an immediate opening for a senior Accounts Receivable Accountant at their Home Office in Birmingham, Alabama.



Specific duties include:


Invoicing, reconciliation and collection of commercial accounts.

Maintaining accounts receivable subledgers and reconciling to general ledger.

Recording month-end journal entries related to accounts receivable as part of financial close.

Preparing accounts receivable reports for management review.







Qualifications/Experience:


Degree in accounting, business, finance, or related experience

Minimum 3 years of accounting experience

Public experience preferred, but not required.

Working knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley legislation.

Strong proficiency in basic PC applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Ability to work effectively with peers, subordinates, and superiors across many departments.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to handle confidential and sensitive matters.

Ability to think strategically and assist the organization and management in identifying operational efficiencies.
