Job Description
Provides senior-level graphic design for compelling and refined collateral, POS, packaging, and marketing support materials for retail and corporate communications. Provides conceptualization and design solutions that maintain the standards of the Epson brand. As needed, provides graphic design services to support internal corporate and marketing customers. Key customers include: Merchandising, Product Management, Marketing Communications, Retail Operations and Sales.
Primary Responsibilities
Graphic Design
- Design, layout and execution of concepts to support the overall merchandising strategy including the creation of packaging, displays, and new product launch materials
- Produces and generates final print and/or web ready files (CRC) based on project objectives and goals
-Collaborates on concept development, illustration, and design to maintain Epson branding
-Designs comprehensives and presents for client approval
- Produces high-end Photo Quality print samples that maximize quality and speed for each printer
- Suggests images, layouts, and designs for each printer to match target audience, speed requirements, and informational needs based on the creative direction provided
-Provides skilled photo retouching for print sample images (stock and custom)
- Provides art direction for product photo shoots and retouching direction on assigned projects
- Maintains design and communications standards for printed materials
- Participates in presentation of "comps" to clients; provides recommendations for final creative direction
-Researches and evaluates illustration and design software programs
-Maintains electronic files
-Configures, upgrades, troubleshoots and maintains personal Mac work station
-Helps define and maintains creative procedures guidelines and specifications on all projects
People/Relationship Management
-Provides coaching and mentoring to design team members
-Effective, open communicator, adept at working in teams or individually; comfortable presenting to small or medium groups
-Prioritizes projects and organizes work flow for all in-coming jobs to ensure project schedules are met
-Builds strong relationships with peers and Managers to best meet company goals and objectives
-Leverages relationships with vendors for technical and production assistance and methods
-Maintains professional relationships with peers in other corporations and outside organizations
Minimum Qualifications
Completion of a Bachelor's degree.
Minimum of 3-5 years computer production and graphic design experience in fast paced environment such as an advertising agency, design firm, or corporate merchandising group. Must have strong conceptual design skills with knowledge of layout and typography. Prepress and preflight experience essential.
Experience designing logos, product packaging, point-of-sale materials desired. Packaged goods, retail manufacturing, or computer industry experience a plus.
Experience color correcting and retouching photos.
Expert knowledge of and proficiency with InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Acrobat, Freehand, and Adobe Illustrator are essential. Proficiency with most recent versions of Mac OSX and general system maintenance desired.
Knowledge of HTML, DHTML, CSS, and other web design tools a plus.
Solid knowledge of Mac/PC platforms.
Detail-oriented and highly motivated.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from client groups.
Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
Ability to self-manage projects and work within time deadlines, experience juggling multiple priorities.
