Packaging Designer

SUMMARY:

A packaging designer will be expected to complete a project from concept to completion. They must bring a product to life using visual storytelling skills based on clear business and marketing objectives. They will manage, create and execute a concept that will include all phases of design, including: photo shoots, structural and 3-D design, creating die-lines, complex photo touching and effects, layout and composition, typography, mechanical build and pre-press.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Creates from concept to mechanical, packaging for as many as 75 products per year across our various networks and consumer brands.

Creates from concept to mechanical, content necessary to each product including instruction manuals, DVD covers, posters, books, etc., as many as 100 projects per year across our various networks and consumer brands.

The two points above would require the designer to manage the flow of as many as 200 creative requests.

Manages freelancers and contingent work force to ensure timely flow of all tasks in order to complete a project.

Creates new packaging systems and style sheets for new product or brand initiatives.

Reviews and approves all digital match prints and final press proofs for production.

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum level of 5-10 years professional packaging design experience in the consumer products industry.

Education - minimum 4 year design degree.

Must be highly proficient in Illustrator 9,10, & CS, Indesign, and Adobe Photo Shop 7.0 & CS, and Quark 6.1 in a Mac based environment.

This role requires highly skilled designers across many different programs and specialties, they must be able to think conceptually and execute 3-dimensionsally through all phases of design.
