Audio Engineer for nationally distributed radio program Michael Feldman's Whad'Ya Know?

POSITION SUMMARY:
Technical Director for "Whad 'Ya Know?", a nationally-distributed comedy/quiz show (approximately 80%.) Provide technical/production leadership to other assigned programs and projects of Wisconsin Public Radio (approximately 20%).

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:


Provide technical direction and engineering for all live broadcasts of WYK

Insure that existing technical standards for WYK- are consistently maintained, and develop new standards as necessary.

Serve as technical liaison between program producers of WYK, network syndicators and distributors (such as PRI and NPR), and Wisconsin Public Radio Engineering.

Direct all production and engineering efforts required for remote broadcasts of WYK

Coordinate any network re-feeds of WYK.

Provide studio production for WYK, including custom promos and fundraising specials.

Work with other engineers and producers in technical planning and execution of projects assigned by Director of Engineering and Operations.

Provide studio production support for projects assigned by Director of Engineering and Operations.

Engineer remote recordings and/or broadcasts on projects assigned by Director of Engineering and Operations.

Demonstrate respect for others in all workplace relationships and interactions.

Other duties as assigned by WPR Director of Engineering and Operations.QUALIFICATIONS:


Bachelor's degree

Extensive experience recording or airing live performances.

Proven ability to properly install and use microphones, mixers, other broadcast/recording equipment.

Ability to troubleshoot and correct equipment problems quickly under production pressure.

Demonstrated successful results in live production mixing, both for recording and broadcast.

Experience working with Public Address and sound-reinforcement systems.

Effective written and oral communication skillsDESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS


Successful full-time experience in audio engineering,

Experience with nationally-distributed production is a plus.

Experience with multicultural (diverse) audiences.

Previous Public Radio experience.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Achieve reliable and excellent-sounding broadcasts/recordings of live events.
Provide audio post-production editing and sweetening of program for broadcast.
Work with producers and engineers on technical planning and execution of assigned projects.
Preventive maintenance and basic care of equipment.

SALARY RANGE: The range for this position is $34,322 &#-106 54,000. Actual pay will be dependent upon qualifications and experience. WPR offers a comprehensive benefits package.
