Disney Online's Premium Product team is committed to leading the market in creating, marketing and operating industry-defining, entertaining, interactive and high quality premium online experiences for kids and families. These currently include Disney's Toontown Online, Disney's Blast, Playhouse Disney Preschool Time Online, Pirates of the Caribbean Online, Disney Game Downloads and Disney Connection.
We are looking for a Sr. Designer to join the team responsible for the development, launch and ongoing operation of Disney.com's new entertainment and community platform.
The position requires an experienced, creative, talented and motivated Sr. Designer to provide art and design support to flash product development, product maintenance, and product marketing efforts. Responsibilities involve developing, supervising, executing and implementing design solutions for this flash-based entertainment media experience, meeting standards of quality for artwork, and meeting all production deadlines.
This individual's applied skills should include Web site design, layout, animation, type design, 3D asset creation and illustration. Tasks will include asset development (flash sitedesign, video sequences, animated promotional units, flash navigational components, and other assets as needed) and design solutions (updates to, and future development of content, activity engines, visual presentations) for the entertainment and community platform. Additional tasks include creative support for sponsored elements sold to sites within the platform.
The individual must understand the Disney brand, children's (family) entertainment, and possess an ability to implement and deliver consistent, high-quality productfor all assigned tasks. This individual must be able to follow directions and interpret instruction, as well as be self-directed in a high-intensity workplace.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A formal design education. BFA, in Graphic Design or other related discipline.
Minimum 6 years professional design experience in related industry including 4 years web design.
Should be knowledgeable in Internet usability and web design.
Must be knowledgeable about computer based asset development and comprehendcurrent technology and tradeoff issues involved with web design.
The individual should possess an understandingof the Disney brand (and/or family/children's entertainment).
SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED:
Must have strong working knowledge of all current creative development tools including (but not limited to) Flash, Illustrator/Freehand, Photoshop and Maya.
Must possess strong applied skills in design, layout, typography, animation, 3D asset creation and creative problem solving.
Must have a solid understanding of HTML, JavaScript, and Actionscript.
Should be passionate about design and have an ability to deliver final solutions that meet the high creative standards of the Disney brand.
Must be able to articulate the vision and reasoning behind design decisions.
Must be organized and skilled at meeting deadlines.
Must have good communication skills and be adaptable in both applied skills and accepting creative direction.
Must be able to work in a collaborative environment
