Mortgage Consultant, New Customer Acquisition

This position advises prospective borrowers on which home loan products may best suit their needs.

Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Interviewing applicants, determining which loan programs will meet their needs, and discussing appropriate loan programs with the prospective borrower.
- Exercising independent judgment to effectively communicate complex formulae and mortgage industry terms to diverse clientele.
- Engaging in follow-up activities with prospective borrowers.
- Filing renegotiations and Underwriting program changes.
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of all program policies and procedures.
- Assisting Loan Specialist on gathering file documentation.
- Completing loan application forms and adverse action notices, when appropriate.

A successful candidate will have:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years experience in direct real estate or related finance field.
- 3+ years experience in retail sales.
- Knowledge of the applicable laws regarding mortgage banking [and/or financial services, and/or the mutual fund industry, or workplace (e.g., FSLA, Civil Rights Act, American Disabilities Act)].
- Effective interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in current software such as Lotus Notes, Excel, Access and Word.
