Personal Loan Consultant

In this role, the successful candidate will handle home loan inquiries from prospective borrowers, analyze customer needs and advise them on which of Countrywide's loan programs will best accomplish their objectives. Major responsibilities include determining the borrower's ability to qualify by running a credit report and using information derived from the borrowers on income and assets, in addition to advising on property value using existing data, automated valuation tools and borrower information derived from interview. The chosen candidate will be relied on to make an initial decision on whether the loan request will meet Countrywide's guidelines and will be approved. Exercising independent judgment to effectively communicate complex criteria, guidelines and mortgage industry terms to customers, this position is responsible for overcoming objections and collecting up front fees for appraisal and credit report. Other duties include packaging the loan for processing.

Requirements:
- College degree in a related course of study preferred.
- 2+ years mortgage sales experience, preferably in a call center environment.
- Mortgage and residential financial services background.
- Advanced level of knowledge of mortgage loan origination, operations, mortgage products and real estate transactions.
- Demonstrated experience with mortgage sales by telephone.
- A complete understanding of Fair Lending.
- Ability to successfully sell in a highly automated, fast-paced environment.
- Strong PC skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Lotus Notes) including the knowledge of the Internet.
- Exceptional verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.
