Summary of Major Duties and Responsibilities


The primary responsibility of this position is to provide services to 12th District Statistics Department users. This position serves as an application developer, designing and implementing new web applications to automate business processes such as data entry and validation, reporting and workflow tracking. The position provides support for existing applications used by the Statistics Department. General duties may include:


Gathering and analyzing business requirements, developing specifications and application code, system testing, team leadership and producing technical and user documentation.

Position may also support STAR (Statistics and Reserves) projects and may be responsible for user acceptance testing and implementation of various applications.

Candidate will possess a BA /BS in information systems, computer science, a related degree, or equivalent experience.

This position requires:


Candidate should be proficient with the .NET framework, including experience with ASP.NET, ADO.NET, C#, JavaScript, and HTML. MS SQL 2000, IIS, Chart FX, Transact SQL, and Macromedia Studio MX experience.

1-3 years of experience (or equivalent course work) in web and relational database design using ASP.NET, client/server or data-centric web application development using C# technology.



A broad working knowledge and technical skills in developing Microsoft Windows and web applications.
Development experience with large-scale relational and hierarchical databases and web scripting languages
Candidate must have:

Analytical and problem-solving skills to recognize and articulate production, development, and/or testing issues.

Ability to apply existing written procedures and/or solutions to resolve business and application issues.

Strong customer service and teamwork ethic (this position provides customers with prompt and courteous responses, and keeps users and management informed of current and outstanding issues.)

Ability to express ideas clearly in a positive and constructive manner. The candidate will work with a diverse group of individuals toward common goals and represent the department in a professional and diplomatic manner.


Candidate should be a self-starter who is able to work independently and possesses good people skills.

Demonstrated ability for supporting web applications, knowledge of SQL databases, strong problem-solving abilities, and technical knowledge of server environments.
Ability to understand and apply technical documentation. Good analytical and problem solving skills.
