Healthcare - Associate Actuarial
Position Type: Temporary
Provides actuarial management information necessary to keep the corporation financially sound. Identifies and analyzes internal and external factors which affect statistics for use in forecasting, trending, and rate models, etc. Designs specific actuarial studies and research projects as requested. Basic recognition as a technical consultant.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform actuarial research, experience studies, statistical analyses.
Develop, calculate and analyze rates, reserves, provider contract terms, etc.
Compile and verify data, prepare reports.
Provide various levels of analysis and modeling work.
Develop actuarial assumptions.
Monitor level of trend and profitability.
Train and may supervise other actuarial associates -- assign work, check work, organize work & scheduling, and provide input for written performance appraisals.
Develop maintain documentation.
Provide data to external agencies -- auditors, DOI, DMHC -- as needed.
Prepare schedules, document factors.
Prepare departmental activity plans.
Attend company task forces or committees.

REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
Four year College Degree in Math, Stats, Econ, or Computer Science or equivalent experience.
Passed four or more SOA exams.
Experience:
Three years applicable work experience in an HMO/health care environment.
