NCE IV
Responsible for the test and qualification service within customer network. Sets strategic direction for customer utilizing best practices, close working relationships with virtual teams and AS central engineering. Identify hardware and software requirements for test lab. Identify gaps against best testing and lab practices. Provide a detailed report and assessment analysis. Recommend gap closure approaches. Collaborate on test lab design. Recommendations on test case repository and configuration management systems. Testing tool feature recommendations. Create a testing methodology and strategy document. Develop customized methods, procedures and practices for test. Provide support during test plan execution. Interface to Cisco BU¿ s as needed. Review test results. Workshops and mentoring on lab designs, testing methodologies and testing tools and test repositories. Actively contribute and advise on all test activities, software release management recommendations.


Common Responsibilities:
- Performs analysis and diagnosis of highly complex networking problems.
- Performs analysis of highly complex network designs.
- Builds simulated networks in test labs to resolve highly complex problems and compatibility issues.
- Introduces new ways of working


The NCE may perform any of the following components of the role breakdown depending on specific engagements:

Transactional Projects / Project Engineering role:
- Generates standard project documentation including detailed test plan for highly complex networks.
- Generates network configurations from Low Level Design for highly complex networks.
- Supports pre-sales activity for highly complex networks.
- Plans and executes highly complex Network Upgrade and Network Migration activity.


Transactional Projects / Project Consulting role:
- Leads design workshop.


Proactive Service & Support:
- Assists customer with deployment and strategy of highly complex tools and related Network Management Systems
- Leads design workshop


Reactive Service & Support:
- Troubleshoots and resolves highly complex customer network problems across a broad range of technologies.
- Acts as a focal point for highly complex network problem resolution.


Advanced Services Technology Specialization Teams:
- Provides training to other NCE¿s as well as real-time escalation response for support issues.
- Writes technical white papers for new technologies supported by Advanced Services.
- Develop network design & network architecture best practices for Advanced Services.


Education:
- Owns responsibility for driving regional Advanced Services projects.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Expert level knowledge in TWO of the following and strong knowledge in all other areas of: IP internetworking, IBM internetworking, LAN Switching, ATM & Voice technologies, IP Telephony, SAN, CDN, Optical, Wireless, IPCC. WAN protocols (Frame Relay, ISDN). IP Routing protocols (IGRP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP).

Expert level internetworking troubleshooting in a large-scale network environment.

Undertake support as designated Advanced Services engineer for large-scale networks. Must possess strong technical account management skills. Minimum 1 year of experience in Advanced Services or high-level support.

Large-scale network design skills.

Active participant in virtual technology teams within Advanced Services.

In-depth knowledge of network management, network availability & capacity planning.

PREFERRED SKILLS:
CCIE

Typically requires BS, CS, or University degree equivalent plus 6-8 years experience in network engineering or telecommunications support environment. Advanced degree strongly preferred. 745232
