Aircraft Structural Engineer Minimum Requirements :
Candidates must be U.S. citizens
Candidates must have or be able to obtain a secret clearance.
Have graduated from an ABET accredited engineering program, and have 8 - 14 years of senior engineering experience.
Civil, mechanical, or aerospace engineers with aircraft experience are necessary. Prior experience with NASTRAN/PASTRAN or PATRAN/Finite Element Analysis experience for
aircraft applications and specific experience with Rotary Wing aircraft, including fatigue analysis, are highly desirable.
SALARY: $75,000+ to $100,000+ DOE

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Include the following: Provide structural engineering support to the Structures and Materials Division of the Aviation Engineering Directorate by applying classical structural analysis methods and advanced finite element modeling techniques to evaluate the structural integrity of new design alternatives, repairs, and/or design modification efforts; perform fatigue analysis for dynamic components/ fracture mechanics evaluation; and, provide technical expertise to the airworthiness qualification/release process.
Applicant will apply technical expertise in recommending technical/test requirements, specifications, and acceptance criteria consistent with military specifications, industry standards, established design criteria and programmatic documents including Statements of Work and Airworthiness Qualification Specifications and Plans.
Applicants should have experience in analysis of structural design criteria, stress analysis, internal and external loads, finite element modeling, strength and margins of safety.
Experience in statistical evaluations and structural design; providing fatigue test requirements and test plan definition and evaluating fatigue test results are desirable. Additional duties involve providing flight load survey test plan definition, determining fatigue methodology requirements; and, analyzing and reviewing design and production drawings, test plans and reports for laboratory and flight tests, and field support documents such as Depot Maintenance Work Requests, Technical Manuals, and Quality Deficiency Reports. Other duties may be assigned.
