Public Affairs Representative (JP25279-TC)
Job Requirements:
Candidate must have Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Political Science, Communications, Public Administration, or equivalent experience. Candidate must have 3 years experience, broad knowledge of local government, city/county agencies. Must have established strong interpersonal skills and public diplomacy, business relationships within these local government entities or the demonstrated experience establishing relationships. Must have experience identifying, analyzing, and resolving significant local or or regional issues such as on-going operational, real property, generating, or financial issues. Candidate must have demonstrated proficiency making decisions, taking action, meeting deadlines, and working independently. Candidate must have demonstrated exceptional oral/written communicaiton skills experience making formal presentations to management, local/regional government organizations and community. Must have demonstrated experience working well with department peers and members of other departments. Must actively contribute to achieving department objectives, and showing leadership and and initiative in the direction and implementation of company, department, and region goals. Demonstrated experience working effectively on cross-functional teams.
Typical Responsibilities:
The typical responsibilities of this position is to serve as the primary liaison between governmental agencies, as well as work as a liaison with business, and community based organizations, and the Company in the cities of Artesia, Bellflower, Hawaiian Gardens, Lakewood, and Paramount. Manage and transact all phases of Company/customer, government, business, and civic activities. Take a leadership role in the community in accordance with the vision and tenets of the Corporate Stategic Plan and the Local Public Affairs goals. Represent the customer with respect to electric operations that adversely impact governments and communities. Monitor local government activities and issues. Be aware of proposed actions that may impact the company and its customers, and take necessary actions to protect its ability to provide cost effective, safe and reliable electric service as well as the Company assets necessary to do so. Organize and coordinate internal staff and resources, and lead in designing and implementing strategies to resolve issues affecting Company interests and customer relations. Establish and maintain positive business relationships with governmental officials, community and business leaders, media, civic and community-based organizations, minority outreach programs and organizations, etc., to convey and educate on Company operations, policies and procedures in order to meet the electrical needs of the customer.
