REPRODUCTION OFFSET OPERATOR
Reproduction Offset Operator
$18.21 - $22.37 / per hour, 37.5 hour work week

The Position
The City of Oakland's Information Technology Division of the Finance and Management Agency, is currently recruiting to fill one Reproduction Offset Operator vacancy. This classification works under general supervision of the Reproduction Shop Supervisor. The incumbent will perform on various types of offset presses, digital copiers, and operate reproduction equipment needed to reproduce documents and other materials for City departments.
The Duties
- Duplicate documents, letters or vouchers; run multi-part forms; adjust and run multi-register printed materials
- Collate and assemble duplicated materials; prepare duplicated materials for shipping
- Operate and maintain offset presses, digital copiers, and other related equipment
- Organize work and estimate time and materials needed
- Clean presses and other machinery with hazardous cleaners
- Calculate order quantities, stock usage and levels
- Provide technical information to customers about preparation and arrangement of reproduced materials
- Provide customer service and information to vendors and user departments
- Use and dispose of hazardous materials related to job assignment
- Cut, collate, bind, staple, fold, punch and package bulk paper and printed materials manually
- Lift heavy materials and supplies up to 25 pounds
The Minimum Requirements
Any combination of education and experience that is equivalent to the following minimum qualifications is acceptable.
Education: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
Experience: One year experience in operating offset equipment. Three years of experience in operating digital copiers and offset equipment highly desired.
Other Requirements: The successful completion of a comprehensive background investigation is required prior to appointment.
Additional Qualifications: Bilingual skills in Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin and Vietnamese are desirable.
The Qualifications
Knowledge of: Reproduction equipment including printing presses and plate makers, materials and processes, reproduction inks and papers, reproduction masters, plates and stencils, reproduction and printing techniques, record keeping and basic mathematics, modern office machines, safe handling of hazardous materials related to job assignment, and safe work practices.
Ability to: Follow written and oral directions, operate duplicating equipment, offset presses and related office machines, handle hazardous chemicals and cleaners related to the job, use a calculator, organize work and estimate time and materials required, control and adjust the flow of ink on offset presses, perform heavy lifting up to 25 pounds, establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties.
