NEUROPSYCHOLOGIST (22617)

REQUIREMENTS

Presently we are seeking an early to mid-career clinical neuropsychologist to assist in the neuropsychological assessment of patients seen in in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU).

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology or Neuropsychology with the equivalent of a 2-year residency program in Clinical Neuropsychology.

The candidate must be licensed by the State of Arizona and meet all requirements for obtaining hospital privileges. Board certification in Clinical Neuropsychology is highly desirable.

The duties of the staff clinical neuropsychologist on the EMU include conducting clinical neuropsychological examinations of adult and pediatric patients who are being evaluated as possible surgical candidates, or who are being seen for purposes of differential diagnosis; assisting the neurologists in carrying out the Wada procedure, and at times, brain mapping studies; and providing brief, supportive psychological services for patients on that Unit.

The staff neuropsychologist will participate in a rotating system to cover hospital floor consultations. These rotations usually are at 6-month intervals. We provide a back-up support from other psychologists so that all psychologists can meet their day-to-day responsibilities while also responding to floor consults.

In addition, the individual must have demonstrated research skills and be capable of conducting clinical research projects on a variety of neuropsychological topics relevant to the assessment and rehabilitation process. The candidate will be expected to work effectively with physicians as well as fellow psychologists, the patients, and family members. Finally, the candidate will be expected to participate in the teaching of postdoctoral residents in clinical neuropsychology and guiding their research activities.

Compensation is dependent on demonstrated level of competency, years of experience, and academic achievements.
