The Associate Manager ' Employee Development is responsible for organizational effectiveness development at TDS Telecom and Metrocom specific to leadership, management, and interpersonal skills development based on TDS Star Qualities. This position, with input from key stakeholders sets the vision and direction for these content areas, manages large-scale training projects, maintains program effectiveness and designs and delivers content-specific training for these content areas. This position consults with key employee groups to ensure accountability and results within these content areas. This position is also responsible for aligning these programs with TDS's Mission, Shared Values and Star Qualities.

-Strategy: Develops and executes the strategy for employee development within leadership, management, and interpersonal skills development. Uses evaluation data, business needs, benchmarking and other research to determine the optimal strategy for employee development. In conjunction with the Training Leadership Team, collaborates on the overall strategic direction for the Training function. Aligns training needs, resources, programs and goals within the TDS organizations to maximize training efforts.
-Performance Consulting: Consults with key stakeholders to identify areas for improvement throughout the organization. Applies performance consulting methods to assess needs, diagnose challenges, collect data, research best practices, make recommendations, partner with customers to implement solutions, and evaluate for effectiveness. This position consults on projects with a high degree of complexity. Provides leadership to cross-functional project teams. Coaches managers and work teams for increased effectiveness and employee development.
-Program/Project Management: Manages requests for employee development programs. Prioritizes training needs based on Levels 1 and 2 Key Performance Measures and company Vital Few Initiatives.
Manages large scale and/or complex training projects and programs. This responsibility includes defining project scope and developing a project plan and timeline, securing appropriate resources, managing timelines and deliverables of the project and evaluating project effectiveness. Deliverables include user requirements, project scope, project time estimates, learning objectives, user profile and task analysis, completed media, and post-training evaluation results.
-Instructional Design & Delivery: Performs core training processes. Assesses, designs, delivers and evaluates training solutions for large-scale and/or complex training projects, using advanced techniques and delivery methods. Manages external vendor relationships as necessary to provide employee development in specific content areas. Ensures vendors adhere to TDS high standards of training delivery and continue to provide value to the organization.
-Evaluation: Evaluates the effectiveness of employee development programs using standard evaluation tools, such as Level 1 - 4 measures. Revises, replaces or creates programs based on the analysis of this evaluation. Follows through on analysis of evaluation data. Creates evaluation strategy and plans for new projects.
-Budget Planning & Management: Plans and maintains budget for content area. Reviews monthly budget reports to ensure accuracy and budget compliance.

Note: Up to 20% travel may be required of this position during peak times.

Required Qualifications:
-Bachelor's degree in Communications, Education, Instructional Design, Business AND 3+ years experience in training delivery, design, development and evaluation, specifically in leadership, management or interpersonal skills content areas OR 7+ years experience in training delivery, design, development and evaluation with 3+ years specifically in leadership, management or interpersonal skills content areas
-1+ years experience with performance consulting and/or training needs assessment
-2+ years in a management role with direct reports

Other Qualifications:
-3+ years proven project management, time management and organizational skills
-Understanding of the TDS organization and environment desired
-Ability to analyze customer needs, issues and concerns
-Ability to motivate multiple individuals with diverse backgrounds and skills in the context of shifting priorities
-Excellent verbal and written communication
-Excellent training and presentation skills
-Ability to work well with minimum supervision
-Ability to gather data and produce reports which will assist the Manager'Employee Development in decision making and planning activities
-Experience and certification to teach any of the following courses is a plus: 7 Habits of Highly Effective People (Franklin Covey); 4 Disciplines of Execution (Franklin Covey); Situational Leadership II (Blanchard Training & Development); Crucial Conversations (Vital Smarts); Behavioral Interviewing (BT Innovations)
