Chevron Shipping Company (CSC) is accepting online applications for the position of HR Business Partner / Analyst (0609-50163430) located in San Ramon, California through September 22, 2006.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
An HR professional who, as part of the Chevron Shipping HR team, is responsible for providing strategic and tactical HR support to the Shipping organization worldwide. Shipping is comprised of shoreside employees working primarily in San Ramon, Houston, London and Singapore and Mariners located worldwide. This position supports the Marine Manning Division of our U.S. and international fleet, provides general HR support and counsel to Shoreside employees, and is responsible for HR-related projects and

QUALIFICATIONS:

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
General HR Business Partner Support -
- Involved in a variety of business activities that focus on enhancing organizational performance, developing a competent and committed workforce and building organizational capabilities that directly impact business strategies.
- Requires a strong knowledge and understanding of HR policies, products and processes and the applicant must be able to apply this knowledge by assisting in counseling management in a variety of situations.
- Must be flexible to changing priorities, able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and be customer focused while understanding the need for absolute confidentiality.
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision and guidance and independently set own work priorities.
- Accountable for the delivery of HR services to their client base, whether provided directly or brokered through HR Shared Services.
- Decision making authority within discipline; clients rely on judgment; solves wide range of complex problems; actively seeks out resources; fosters a sense of teamwork with HR shared services, and recommends HR strategies to help clients achieve business plan goals.

Marine Manning Division HR Support -
- Managing special assignments of mariners into temporary, shoreside project assignments, including but not limited to immigration, tax, expatriate matters, documenting terms and conditions, and estimating costs associated with these assignments for customers.
- Developing and executing a variety of HR-related projects on behalf of Chevron Shipping, often of an OpCo-wide, strategic nature (e.g. strategic staffing teams, Corp HR initiatives, organizational design and remuneration, etc.)
- Chevron Transport Corp Ltd (CTCL) benefits/policy interpretation and authorization; participation in the design and implementation of new CTCL benefits
- Responsible for managing the Marine Benefit Plans
- Responsible for compliance issues and regulations

SPECIAL SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS OR ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS/INFORMATION:
- Bachelor's degree preferred in Human Resources or Business.
- In lieu of degree, minimum of 8-10 years of exempt level human resources experience.
- PHR/SPHR Certification desired.

SELECTION CRITERIA:
- HR Knowledge: Experienced and proficient in core HR disciplines including expatriate policy, pay and rewards, organization design, etc. Familiarity with basic Chevron HR systems and processes such as pay determination, SAP, leveraging shared services, HR policy, etc.
- Customer Focus, Communication and Consulting Skills: Demonstrated ability of promoting and advancing the "business partner concept. Able to apply HR counsel and processes to help accomplish business goals. Consulting and communication skills and style advance HR's credibility.
- Analytical Skills: Able to extract meaning from data. Detail-oriented. Able to make strategy-based recommendations while keeping details in perspective. Experience constructing and tracking budgets. Experience with Microsoft Excel.
- Project Management: Proficient with the design, execution, and tracking of multiple projects and priorities. Demonstrated history of organizing and managing multiple streams of work and competing deadlines. Ability to quickly shift from detailed tasks to more strategic work.
