Summary
Provides day-to-day human resources support and counsel to a business unit and/or functional group covering many or most of the following areas: recruiting, compensation, benefits, training, employee and labor relations, employee communications, and safety and employment documentation. Ensures consistent application of policies and procedures. Serves as a liaison with internal departments/divisions and/or outside organizations.
Tasks & Accountabilities
Responsible for the management of policies, processes and practices related to employment, labor relations, compensation, benefits, performance management and workforce planning. Leads business unit and subsidiary planning company wide in the development, implementation, coordination and evaluation of HR related processes. Ensures compliance with employment related law. Conducts research into human resource programs and activities and recommends changes or innovations where desirable. Coordinates, partners and delivers vendor and/or DHL-developed training courses for employees. Manages risk associated with employee and labor relations. Manages human resources generalists or specialists with combined responsibility for several human resource functions such as employment, labor relations, compensation, training, equal employment/affirmative action, records, safety and health, benefits and employee services. Supervises two or more staff; responsible for hiring, coaching, training, and developing subordinate staff. Assigns work, sets completion dates, reviews work, and manages performance in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and performance management processes.
Skills & Qualifications
Has extensive depth of expertise and knowledge in specialized functions or business areas. A thorough understanding of specific aspects of work supervised and practical application to problems and situations ordinarily encountered. Develops advanced concepts, techniques, and standards. Develops new applications based on professional principles and theories. Viewed as expert in functional or business area within DHL. Deals with cross-cultural tactical issues. Typically requires BS/BA and 6-8 years experience in related field, including at least 2 years of supervisory experience. Professional certification required in some areas.
