Countrywide Insurance Group, is a leading nationwide full-service insurance provider. Through its companies, Countrywide Insurance Group offers life, disability, homeowners, renters and many other insurance products and services to consumers and businesses.

1st Vice President, Risk Management
The department is responsible for designing, establishing and maintaining organizational infrastructure and processes.
The 1st Vice President, Risk Management is responsible for developing and maintaining strategic and tactical plans. Designs and develops non-financial reporting information for Senior Management, utilizing analytical tools and computer based models, resulting in the further development of actionable long term planning, activity based costing or operational analysis.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Development of both short-term tactical plans and long-term strategic plans and coordinating efforts among senior management team, including development of metrics and measurements to ensure SMART goals are developed.
- On-going maintenance of strategic plan and quarterly assessment of progress against goals.
- Primary contact with corporate strategic planning office.
- Work with CAO to manage rating agency relationship, monitor, review and maintain risk management reporting processes, and perform operational efficiency analysis through FASTER process. May be required to manage one or more personnel as department continues to grow.
- Facilitating meetings, mediating disagreements or issues between departments and ensuring sufficient focus and progress is being made on initiatives.
- Direct Risk Management processes, review process owner analysis, assessments and gap analysis. - Activities also include maintaining workflow system for documenting risk practices and issues.
- Work with CAO to report findings to Compliance and Risk Committee.
- Ensure CORAD database is appropriately populated and maintained.
- Serve as project lead/manager for high NPV and cross-functional FASTER projects.
- Design monthly non-financial management reports. Monitor and review monthly reporting processes including identification of issues and areas of concerns. With process owners, present information to Executive Management.
A successful candidate will have:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or equivalent, along with strong knowledge of spreadsheets.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to clearly communicate complex accounting theories, reporting situations, as well as personal opinions.
- Ability to build trust with coworkers across organizational boundaries.
- Self-assurance when dealing with people at all organizational levels.
- Ability to manage staff at all levels, including ability to communicate key strategies, goals and plans, as well as performance standards and expectations.
- Ability to provide on-going coaching, feedback and development suggestions to improve individual performance.
- High degree of financial acumen, including knowledge of key financial indicators/measures to evaluate alternative courses of action and select optimal solutions.
- Strong analytical skills and an ability to interpret complex data in meaningful and relevant ways.
- Understanding of the theory and practice of capital markets.
- Thorough knowledge of insurance company economics.
- Proven track record effectively managing change and continual process improvement.
