Job Description
Under general supervision perform the tasks associated with the duties and responsibilites listed below. Maintain reconciliations, cash controls, inventory of collateral, perform account analysis, and various projects on a timely, accurate, and complete basis. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintain, monitor and reconcile various general ledger accounts with existing reinsurance systems, including but not limited to, ceded reinsurance premiums payable, reinsurance recoverable on paid losses/LAE, Funds Held and Funds Withheld. Ensure that reconciling items are cleared within established guidelines. Monitor and analyze commuted reinsurance contracts and related balances. Monitor and access adequacy of uncollectible reinsurance reserves. Prepare various scheduled for monthly management reports. Prepare and record monthly journal entries and adjustments to general ledger. Book monthly accrual entries to general ledger and reconcile as required. Prepare monthly cash flow analysis identifying significant collections. Interact with the Treasury Department to ensure that cash received is properly identified and coded for General Ledger entry. Maintain inventory and tracking of changes to Letters of Credit, Trust Funds, Funds Withheld, and allocation of the reserve for uncollectible reinsurance. Assist as needed in preparation of Statutory Schedule F. Special projects as assigned.
Required Skills
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: College degree in accounting/finance preferred. 3 to 5 Years experience in accounting preferred or equivalent work experience. Reinsurance/insurance accounting environment preferred. PC skills - Excel, Access Demonstrated ability to keep work organized and meet deadlines. Strong analytical skills and be comfortable working in a fast paced environment on multiple priorities.
