Department: Pricing
Schedule: Full-time regular, 40 hours/week , Monday through Friday
Education/Licensure/Certification: Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.
Qualifications: Previous experience in pricing or underwriting (usually 5 years). Minimum 2 years experience in pricing or underwriting environment. Excellent supervisory skills required to conduct the performance management process and to deliver effective disciplinary actions. Knowledge of the dynamics and trends in health care delivery systems and models, and of healthcare industry practices. Excellent problem solving and computer skills, particularly statistical, financial, economic modeling, and scenario building. Knowledge of basic utilization and pricing models, HMO Act, state and federal regulations, rate setting principles, actuarial methods, and KP products. Excellent interpersonal, leadership, team building, negotiation, presentation and project management skills, required. Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
Duties: Develops yearly rates and pricing policy for segment product lines with Shared Services. Coordinates overall segment pricing and pricing policy with Shared Services and Program Office. Provides required actuarial analysis and rate development for state and federal filings and audits. Prices specific segment product enhancements according to pricing policies. Develops RFP responses relative to segment rating and pricing issues. Consults on specifications to Health Plan Systems to ensure compliance with pricing policies. Trains and advises field sales and account management staff. Explains rating practices to clients and other external audiences. Conducts employer group analyses as they pertain to segment products. Conducts strategic analysis on various pricing scenarios and benefit modification to segment products and makes recommendations. Develops, recruits, and trains staff, allocates workload, and initiates timely performance evaluations as relevant. Assists with the forecast of business line revenues and the assessment of segment performance against annual budget and cost of sales targets. Directs performance within annual budget and cost of sales targets. Consistently supports compliance and the Principles of Responsibility (Kaiser Permanente's Code of Conduct) by maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting non compliance, and adhering to applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, accreditation and licenser requirements (if applicable), and Kaiser Permanente's policies and procedures.
