WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

College degree or equivalent work experience.

At least 2 years experience handling Workers' Comp claims with strong technical skills and claim handling fundamentals.

Experience handling progressively more complex lost time claims.

Enthusiasm for working in a team environment to build technical expertise by collaborating with others on difficult cases and to act as a resource to less experienced staff.

Must have solid experience with the following: timeliness of actions, investigation, deciding compensability, creating and executing file strategies, disability management including use of nurse case managers and vocational case managers, reserving, diary management, online file documentation, legal management, and subrogation.

Demonstrated ability to deliver excellent customer service including experience in using diplomacy and tact to effectively avoid or diffuse high-tension situations.

State required certification exams and adjusting licenses.

Any other industry certifications are a plus.

WHAT ARE THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION?

The main goal of the Workers' Compensation organization is to provide timely and accurate investigation of all workers' comp claims and ensure that the statutory laws of each jurisdiction as well as the terms in the insured's policy are followed for each claim. When a claim is considered compensable it should be reserved, paid and a resolution found that is in the best financial interest of our client and Specialty Risk Services. Specialty Risk Services is primarily service oriented. Claim handlers fit into Specialty Risk Services as front line production staff that directly impact the company's financials. Through following best practices, accurate reserving and delivering excellent customer service, claim handlers are able to fairly distribute funds to workers who have been injured in the work place. When claim handlers make appropriate decisions about liability and set aside appropriate funds for claim payments they help to keep premium rates and loss ratios low as well as retain desirable business.
