Job Description
Examines claims data and conducts investigation to develop facts for determination of coverage, liability, compensability, subrogation, etc. Adjusts and manages claims within the limit of assigned authority.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Receives claims assignments. Verifies and determines applicability of coverage.
· Determines the method and extent of investigation for each claim as required by company claims handling manual and procedures and either conducts telephone investigation, or because of the nature of the claim, conducts a field investigation making personal contacts, as required. Establishes accurate and timely reserves in accordance with company standards.
· Evaluates and adjusts claims within the limits of authority. Consults with the claims supervisor on those claims in which assistance and consultation is needed, as well as on those claims that exceed assigned authority.
· Assesses recovery potential and is responsible for the development of information required to successfully pursue recovery.
· Ensures proper file documentation and reporting of the data secured as a result of claims activity and the rational for settlement. May be responsible for the submission of claims forms and reports required by outside agencies.
· Accountable for the equitable and prompt adjustment and management of assigned claims to disposition in accordance with company claims policy.
· Responsible for providing superior customer service to all agents, insureds, and others encountered during the claims handling process.
Required Skills
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
· College degree required.
· Some claims-related training courses a plus.
· Minimum of 3 years experience handling general Liability claims.
