WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are seeking Commercial Lit Plus Claim Handlers for our Western CA&L Claim Service Center . This position will plan, recommend, reserve and execute the investigation, control, valuation and final disposition of assigned claims; properly assessing indemnity and expense exposure, while achieving a fair and equitable disposition which the customer understands.

Cases managed in the Litigation Team include both auto and general liability exposures involving coverage issues, comparative negligence, attorney representation, litigation and injuries severe in nature. Attendance at trials and mediations may be required.

An ideal candidate will have the following qualifications.
College Degree or equivalent business experience.
Minimum of 4-6 years experience handling both automobile / bodily injury and general liability of business.
Proven ability to manage a heavy workload.
Comprehensive understanding of the litigation process and prior experience handling litigated claims.
Experience in the formulation and execution of litigation plans.
Strong investigative, analytical and organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability to perform coverage analysis.
Experience in reviewing and establishing legal expense budgets.
Knowledge of contracts, indemnification and additional insured language.
Well-defined negotiation skills at all levels, including the SBS and RAP programs.
Experience in preparing home office reports, reservation of rights and denial letters.
Excellent written / spoken communication skills; excellent telephone manner.
Composure under pressure while handling multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to work independently, yet collaborate with others as required.

Coverage certification
Commercial experience

WHAT ARE THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION?

The Lit Plus Consultant is responsible for handling litigated claims and the most complex and high exposure auto and general liability claims for the Western CA&L Center. Responsibilities include planning, recommending, reserving, and executing the investigation, valuation, disposition, and settlement of claims. Claim settlement will be expected to proceed in a manner consistent with corporate claim settlement policies/procedures and statutory, regulatory, and ethics requirements. The consultant will properly assess the indemnity and expense exposure of claims to achieve a fair, equitable, and timely disposition. The consultant will develop and share knowledge of claim handling expertise. He or she will be expected to demonstrate technical mastery in managing claims in one or more specialized lines of business.
