NETWORK ENGINEERING ANALYST Assists with, research, and recommendations for Wide Area Network design and engineering solutions. Assists in providing design and technical expertise to support the Wide Area Network of the respective area. This includes analyzing capacity requirements, evaluation of network technologies, management of vendor relationships, and diagnosing and resolving telecommunications related problems. Assists with projects to determine requirements and translates them into hardware/software capacity recommendations. Assists with technical support to clients, systems and operations areas of Wide Area Network policies, guidelines, and specifications. Assists with planning, designing, and engineering the most efficient, cost effective solutions for small, well-defined Wide Area Network designs. Works closely with clients, other systems technical staff, and vendors in project planning of small well-defined network configurations. Prepares instructions and documentation for installation personnel, oversees the project, and provides status updates to client management. Identifies and resolves problems which may impact project results. Researches and evaluates technical alternatives. Provides recommendations for hardware, software, connectivity, and use of system features. Provides network performance management, which includes capacity planning, network modeling, traffic analysis, forecasting and provisioning. Job Specifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related field Previous experience, typically 3 or more years in Information Technology with 1 to 2 years experience in Wide Area Network Design, Installation, and Operations. Strong working knowledge of Cisco hardware, routers and switches, certifications required CCNA. Network monitoring tools and trouble shooting tools. Previous knowledge and understanding of the following technical disciplines: Frame Relay, MPLS, ATM, CTI, Internet/Intranet, call centers, virtual office, cabling/infrastructure, standards, remote access, security/firewalls, messaging, carriers, and cellular/mobile. Previous knowledge and experience in one of the following technical networking disciplines; voice communications, data communications, transport, or video technology. Excellent consultative and communication skills, analytical ability, and judgment. Previous knowledge in planning, managing, and implementing design strategies. Ability to work effectively with clients and other technical staff.
