DEPARTMENT: Occ. Med.



SCHEDULE: Full-Time regular; 40 hours per week; day shift; scheduled days vary; hours are from

8:30am to 5:00pm



EDUCATION: AA degree and/or Education Certificate in Workers Compensation, Self Insurance

Administrators Certificate and/or equivalent experience. Bachelors preferred.



LICENSE / CERTIFICATION: N/A



SKILLS TESTING: N/A



Computer / Word Processing / Other: Proficient in a variety of software applications including

Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, Lotus Notes and mainframe applications.



Skills / Abilities Preferred: Bilingual, English-Spanish speaking preferred.



Knowledge Preferred: Health Connect, CRES, CIPS, Reg+, Access, Bedrock and Lotus Notes



Experience Required: Proven technical or academic knowledge in Occupational Health and/or Worker

Compensation. Two or three years experience in return to work or modified work programs and/or

ongoing contact with multiple, varied and local employer groups, worker compensation carriers and

third party administrators. Excellent communication skills with emphasis on negotiations and problem

solving. Ability to effectively interface with employers and management in guiding them through

complex regulatory and legal issues. Team player with ability to manage a wide variety of projects

simultaneously. Experience developing procedures and policies. Excellent attendance required. Must

be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.



Summary of Duties:



Reports to Occupational Health Case Management Supervisor. Coordinates, facilitates and expedites

the care and recovery of patients and/or employees with work-related injuries and illnesses. Acts as

liaison between patients and employers and/or workers compensation carriers and medical staff to

assure organized and efficient management of medical care to return work-injured patient back to

work as soon as medically and administratively possible. Provides continuity of care to patients by

coordinating needed services and consultation. Obtains all information necessary to secure

authorization and approval needed for the provision of patient care. Educates and guides management,

patients and medical staff through the workers compensation system. Ensures projects are completed

on schedule following established procedures. Collects data and prepares reports. Fulfills role as

employee liaison for the Medical Center. Assist in the development and presentation of education

programs or work-site health promotions. Participates in Quality improvement programs. Promotes a

team environment and supports department's goals and strategic initiatives. Assists with management

and supervision of staff in the absence of the Occupational Health Case Management Supervisor.
