WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

The Hartford seeks a self-motivated and enthusiastic Select Customer Services Representative with sales acumen that will handle the Birmingham territory. The position will be responsible for working with existing and prospective independent agencies in developing a profitable book of business. The best candidate will have at least 2 years of underwriting small to midsize commercial business. The successful candidate must understand the underwriting process and have the skills to go along with this knowledge. This candidate must be outgoing, sales oriented, and aggressive. Also, the ability to build relationships and good communication skills is essential to this role because they will be dealing with all levels within the agencies they work with. Being able to work independently while being organized is crucial because you will work out of your home with light overnight travel. A company car is provided and you must have a valid drivers license with a good driving record.

WHAT ARE THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION?

You will be responsible for building and executing a sales plan to achieve maximum production and profit goals within the Birminham territory. Managing your territory through new appointments, agency prospecting and use of technology is an essential part of your position. It will be very important to stay current on knowledge of underwriting territory including source and nature of agents and business. You will also be responsible for the administration of reports including expense management.
