Senior Programmer Analyst

We have two different positions available.




Position # 1


Job Description:


The candidate should have at least 3+ years programming with emphasis on development of C++ client server insurance applications in a Windows Environment using VisualAge or Visual Studio. The candidate should have strong SQL skills and be comfortable working with DB2 and SQL Server. The ideal candidate will also have experience developing n-tier J2EE applications using JBoss/Eclipse. Experience with ITIL, Six Sigma, COBOL, IBM Mainframe is a plus.


The candidate will work as a team member and should have demonstrable ability to maintain existing production systems while developing new systems and functionality to meet users' requirements. Candidate will participate in code and design reviews as well as develop technical documentation. The candidate should have experience in all phases of the system development life cycle.


Programming Languages: C++, J2EE, DB2, SQL Server

Operating Systems Related: Windows NT/2000

Tools/Protocols: Visual Studio 6.0, IBM VIsual Age for C++, JBoss/Eclipse, .NET

Educational Requirements:
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or equivalent with 3+ years programming in C++





Position # 2


Job Description:
Analyze, design and develop code, test and support users of business applications. Deliver new systems and functions to meet users' requirements. Provide production support and participate in code and design reviews. Develop technical documentation and participate in performance monitoring and tuning for assigned applications. Maintain and enhance mainframe based COBOL, DB2 and CICS Billing system.


Technical/Functional Expectations:


- Software/Application Code: Write, debug, diagram, create flow charts and codes, and document programs in order to develop or refine software applications to meet customer needs.


- Business Process Analysis: Act as liaison with specified user areas and confer with users to define business processes for systems application and integration


- System Integration: Integrate divergent system components so they work together effectively.


- Project Management: Manage scope, cost, schedule and deliverables of multiple projects. Interface with multiple departments to ensure that proper implementations adhere to established standards. Communicate and resolve project issues with internal and external departments.


- System Documentation: Develop system design specifications and quality assurance documentation in order to provide technical and operational instructions and information to system programmers and end users.


- Identify System Problems/Issues: Conduct tests, monitor output, and enter code/command changes in order to identify and resolve system problems and issues.


Computer Applications:


- Experience with COBOL, CICS and other mainframe-based tools


- Database knowledge of DB2 and SQL Server


- Expertise in programming in JAVA, SWING, JSP, and HTML


Educational Requirements:


- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or equivalent with 5+ years programming in an MVS environment
