Department: Pricing



Schedule: Full-time regular, 40 hours/week, Monday through Friday



Education/Licensure/Certification: Bachelor's Degree or a minimum of two years of equivalent experience in business administration, health care administration or a related field.



Qualifications: Experience in functions relating to health insurance or providers, such as marketing, membership services or accounting, reporting or rating, underwriting, actuarial or benefit contract functions. Demonstrated computer literacy with IBM compatible equipment and Microsoft programming including EXCEL and Word. Sound written and verbal communication skills. Ability to accurately calculate algebraic rating formulae. Ability to work with incomplete or imperfect information and develop reasonable assumptions. Ability to balance conflicting deadlines and meet established departmental turnaround goals. Good organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure. Strong understanding of benefits, Kaiser Permanente rating principles and methodologies, group enrollment guidelines, legal restrictions on reporting and rating and an understanding of how health care products are marketed and delivered to groups. Awareness of the market environment for health care in California. Ability to work cooperatively with others. Ability to adapt to changing policies and procedures. Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.



'Duties: Produce standard, non standard and complex rate quotes for both existing and prospective business. Prepares financial responses for RFPs (Requests for Proposal). With the assistance of management, participate in external meeting with clients or brokers in conjunction with sales or account management staff. Assist account managers regarding benefit interpretation and rate explanation. Work in a consulting capacity with account managers regarding alternate benefit design, rate explanations, rating strategies, etc. Work with Program Office regarding the preparation of rates and exhibits for national RFPs. Participate in the maintenance of the underwriting manual. Consistently supports compliance and the Principles of Responsibility (Kaiser Permanente's Code of Conduct) by maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting non compliance, and adhering to applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, accreditation and licenser requirements (if applicable), and Kaiser Permanente's policies and procedures.
