The Underwriting Manager would supervise a team of Underwriters and Analysts while enjoying plenty of visibility, unmatched advancement potential, and all the benefits that come from working for an industry leader.



Primary responsibilities include:
Overseeing Underwriting operations, including a team of direct reports
Conducting meetings with management, employer groups and consultants
Reviewing requests for proposals (RFP) and presenting findings
Justifying benefits rates
Reviewing internal proposal processes
Running regular reports and analysis
Collaborating with senior-level executives on a variety of management efforts
Managing the relationship between Sales and Underwriters
Working on ad hoc projects as needed



Prior group health underwriting experience is essential to this role, along with a varied background in insurance product types (fully insured, indemnity, etc). Data analysis and reporting experience are needed. A strong knowledge of state and federal Medicare regulations is a must. The chosen candidate will also have a proven history of successful leadership/supervision. Experience with a national carrier is highly preferred, and actuarial or healthcare economist experience is a big plus. Computer skills are a necessity. A Bachelor’s degree is required.
