DBA

Description
The Yahoo! Mail team is looking for a Production Oracle DBA to work on next generation of web-based applications. In this position, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and administering multi-terabytes Oracle RAC databases, in a production environment which serves hundreds of millions of Yahoo users. You will also participate in the design and development of new applications on the Oracle platform.

Responsibilities:

* Provide 24*7 production database and application support
* Plan, configure and maintain database and application backup/recovery procedures
* Proactively conduct database monitoring and performance tuning
* Participate in and contribute to capacity planning efforts.
* Responsible for troubleshooting database and application issue in a timely manner
* Work with peer DBAs to manage multiple RAC databases and participate in DBA oncall rotation
* Co-ordinate with the developer team to develop and tune SQL queries and stored procedures


Required Skills:

* 5+ years of production DBA experience.
* Must have Oracle 9i/10g experience.
* Must have experience setting up, troubleshooting, managing and tuning RAC databases
* Must have experience managing large Oracle databases (VLDB) and partitioning
* Production streams experience is a plus
* Experience in high-volume OLTP databases.
* Experience in deploying database changes for new database releases with minimal downtime.
* Emphasis on Unix and Oracle performance tuning techniques
* Demonstrated proficiency of troubleshooting techniques and detail-oriented problem diagnosis.
* Knowledge of Unix Operating system (Linux preferred) administration.
* Knowledge of NetApp configuration/administration
* Good coding practices using PL/SQL, Perl and Unix shell scripts
* Efficient communication and interpersonal skills.
* B.S. in Computer Science or related area of study.
