Messaging and Voice Over IP (VOIP) are strategically important and this person will be one of key drivers

Responsibilities:

* Hire and retain top talent to build a highly motivated world-class engineering team, a team that constantly striving for greatness, and never thinks good is good enough.
* Plan strategy initiatives to keep pace with the growth demands for real time messaging needs (IM, voice and etc) for all Yahoo properties.
* Build highly reliable, scalable, and maintainable yahoo real time messaging platform with high security and performance.
* Build a strong engineering process, and embracing agile practices.
* Involves heavily with the engineering teams in design, development and implementation of systems and processes to ensure scalable architecture deployable globally with smooth migration into production.
* Evangelize with senior management, external partners and other internal groups across Yahoo! to promote groups vision, strategy and plan a path for success.

Requirements:

* Track record of individual technical achievement, successful experience in real time communication products
* 5+ years of relevant experience managing software development and operations teams
* Strong leadership and people management skills. Experience working in highly effective organizations. Successful professional development of technical personnel.
* Experience in evaluating, selecting and integrating best-of-breed/ innovative technologies
* Entrepreneurial drive, demonstrated ability to achieve goals in an innovative and fast paced environment
* Strong knowledge of distributed systems, C/C++, TCP/UDP sockets and SIP/RTP/RTCP in UNIX / windows environment.
* Ultimate combination of intelligence, integrity, technical expertise, domain knowledge, great analytical capability and phenomenal verbal agility that allows you to rapidly earn the trust of technical / product and business teams.
* Phenomenal verbal and written skills are a must.
* BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent
