Engineering Manager - Yahoo Studios
Yahoo Studios is looking for an experienced, innovative and technically strong software engineering manager to lead our studio engineering team. The team is responsible for bringing next generation media experiences to the Yahoo audience. As the projects will be varied and cutting edge, the ideal candidate must be a strong technologist, leader, and partner to the business side.

The ideal candidate must have in-depth experience managing the definition, creation and delivery of creative large scale solutions in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment. You must have at least five years of experience guiding a team of 5 or more engineers building cutting edge technology products and solutions. You must be well-grounded in technology and must be a keen student of emerging trends in the Internet technology space.

We need a visionary, a coach, a technical problem solver, someone to provide course correction, who owns the plan and the priorities, and can work using agile software development processes. In this job, being successful means shipping innovative solutions to our customers while continually moving the team into higher and higher planes of flow, making sure that each individual is growing and happy, and ensuring that everyone knows what is going on, on the team and off -- reporting to other stakeholders is a vital component.

Responsibilities:
Align the efforts of the team in building scalable, high performance, distributed, innovative solutions
Work with customers, product managers, and business managers to constantly refine the direction and priorities
Mentor and grow the team
Drive the planning and execution of the product development and release schedule
Evaluate and compare alternate technologies and solutions, both internal and external, and use the appropriate ones for the product
Contribute to Yahoo! Media's technology roadmap planning

Basic requirements:
10+ years of experience in software engineering with at least 5 years in management, preferably in a UNIX/Linux environment
Good knowledge of service-oriented architectures, scalable systems, internet technologies and handling large volumes of data
Proven track record in delivering complex, high performance systems on aggressive schedules
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Excellent organizational, interpersonal and teamwork skills
Strong technical leadership aptitude
Proven out-of-box thinking skills

Desired skills:
BS (MS preferred) in Computer Science
Experience in Agile project management is a plus
