Project Overview:

During your internship as a design researcher, you may be involved in some/all of the following research activities:
-Plan and run usability studies to gain insight into core searching behaviors and attitudes
-Work with other researchers planning and executing research to inform the design of new product offerings
-Assist with other user research, including ethnographies, lab studies, and participatory design sessions

Responsibilities:
You will be a key member of the User Experience & Design team for Yahoo's Search and Marketplace business unit. This interdisciplinary team consists of smart and fun interaction designers, design researchers, visual designers and design prototypers. You will work together defining, designing, testing and delivering engaging easy to use products which are relevant and essential to peoples lives. Some of the products in our Search and Marketplace business unit include:
- Yahoo! Web Search (including video, image and music search)
-Yahoo! Maps
-Yahoo! Local
-Yahoo! Shopping
-Yahoo! Autos

Qualifications:
-Currently pursuing a Master's degree or PhD in psychology, human-computer interaction or related area with a focus on user research
-Solid understanding of web design principles
-Solid understanding of research fundamentals (experience with both qualitative and quantitative research methods a plus)
-Experience with design research methodologies (e.g. usability testing, participatory design, ethnography, surveys, etc.)
-Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
-Ability to work independently as well as in a group
-Ability to prioritize and manage work to adhere to critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment.

We are looking for an intern to work part-time throughout the school year. We can be flexible in terms of scheduling around class times and other school commitments.
