The Yahoo Platform Engineering team is looking for an engineer to help enhance and operate the Global User Database. This position will provide a number of exciting challenges providing an essential service for all of Yahoo.

Required skills:

This position requires a dedicated individual who can work well in a team environment. The candidate should have a B.S. in Computer Science (or related area of study) and 2-3 years of experience.
Effective communication skills are necessary.

Experience with Unix systems is required, including performing basic Unix administrative tasks.

Effective oral and written communication skills are a must.
The candidate should be able to demonstrate skill in trouble-shooting techniques and problem diagnosis and resolution.

Responsibilities for this position include providing operational support for the Global User Database - managing daily operational queues, working with yahoo properties, addressing standard requests, coordinating with the Network Operations Center, and providing basic troubleshooting assistance.


This candidate will be responsible for documentation of processes and contributing to FAQ's and help files.

Desired Skills/Experience:

The candidate must be well-organized and dedicated to providing timely and professional responses to routine inquiries.

They must be well-organized and prioritize appropriately in an interrupt-driven environment.

Requires on call availability 24x7.

Unix shell (bash) scripting and perl are a plus, as is exposure to large-scale production environments.
