Job Description:
The Advanced Technology Group within Yahoo!'s Advertising Systems Engineering develops technologies, systems and software to prototype, build and deploy new ads products and cutting-edge solutions for serving ads to hundreds of millions of Yahoo! users worldwide. Ad Systems Engineering serves billions of ads - a significant source of Yahoo!'s revenues - to users of Yahoo!'s services.

We are looking for an experienced software engineer to provide leadership to new and ongoing projects. If you enjoy working on technologies at the forefront of online advertising, this job is for you!
Basic Skills:
The ideal candidate will have the ability to propose new ads products, design and develop prototypes, and help transition successful prototypes into production.
Proven track record in developing server technologies and other back-end systems, including communications with other servers and databases.
Should be able to help maintain and optimize existing software infrastructure.
Should have a passion for creating good software that supports scaleable and bug-free, high-performance systems.
motivated self-starter who can lead and mentor other engineers within the advanced technology group.
Ability to Collaborate with other engineering and operations teams within Ad Systems to build, scale and deploy successful prototype products into production.

Preferred Skills:
* BS or MS in Computer Science or Engineering.
* Seven or more years of programming experience in C++ with at least five years of industry experience.
* Two or more years of experience in system architecture and as hands-on lead software developer.
* Five or more years of experience on FreeBSD/Linux/Unix systems, with expertise in scripting languages, especially Perl.
* Experience with relational database design and programming, preferably on MySQL or Oracle.
* Good understanding of algorithms, data structures and performance optimization techniques.
Expertise in designing and building scalable, distributed systems, web services or widely used APIs, and front-end development experience (JavaScript, PHP, DHTML, Ajax, etc.) are preferred.
