Network Engineer
You will be a member of the team directly responsible for the ongoing maintenance and support of Yahoo!'s corporate data network services. This hands-on role will manage the daily operations of the corporate network, including fault management, service management, and network implementation. Meet the service level agreements (SLA) set by different internal customers. Be the primary interface to deliver to customer. Responsible for the quality of the network and fulfilling requests within the appropriate turnaround time. Work with other IT teams; perform network planning, implementation and security. Experience with IP routing, protocols, WAN, load balancing and ISP are required.
Basic Skills:
Maintain availability of all data network services Respond to escalations, tickets, and alerts from NOC and Helpdesk issued to network engineering.
Provide resolution information and work with other teams to complete impact analysis where appropriate Perform senior level maintenance and configuration tasks Troubleshoot and resolve network communication issues Follow established escalation guidelines Participate in and support projects internal to network engineering team Participate in 24x7 "On Call" rotation.
Regional and national travel required: 5-10%
Preferred Skills:
Experience: 4+ years of related experience, BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent work experience
Firewall and router configuration, switches, secure network architecture, VPNs, PKI, PMI, Protocols, Cisco, juniper, PERL, C ISS, SNORT, Sniffer technologies, Windows 2000/NT, Solaris, AIX , HP-UX, Red Hat Linux, Net Screens, Radius, load Balancers IPSEC, SSL, SSH, VPN, WAP, SMTP, FTP, Frame Relay, WAN, ATM, FDDI, DSL, ISDN, , SNMP Practical experience maintaining VPN and WAN services Must have Cisco certification (CCNA, CCNP) or equivalent experience Practical knowledge of network protocols, devices, and commonly used tools Practical experience working with SNMP Strong working knowledge with routing protocols (OSPF,BGP) Strong working knowledge of commonly used appliances (load balancers, cache devices, packet shapers, analyzers) Strong troubleshooting and analytical abilities.
Strong grasp of network theory
Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills with a "Customer focused" attitude.
Ability to take direction and function calmly under pressure.
Ability to work independently and also in a team environment with flexible availability.
Expert troubleshooting skills,and a strong sense of urgency,and
knowledge of TCP/IP protocol stack.

Excellent project, technical, interpersonal, presentation and problem management skills
