Visual Designer III

Description
Yahoo! Inc. is looking for a Visual Design to join the User Experience & Design team within Yahoo! Health. As a Visual Designer you will work closely with interaction designers, usability researchers, producers, web developers, and engineers to develop the visual presentation for Yahoo! Health.

Responsibilities:
- Participate in concept development and design ideation
- Create visual designs that address business, brand, market, and user requirements, including the design and production of screen layouts, color palettes, typography, user interface elements
- Produce design specifications, storyboards, scenarios, design prototypes
- Successfully communicate conceptual ideas, design rationale and the specifics of user centered design process
- Collaborate with producers and interaction designers to refine the user experience
- Work with web developers and engineers to deliver the final product
- Assist in project coordination across functional teams

Qualifications:
- Candidates must have a solid understanding of user-centered design principles, careful attention to detail, as well as ability to grasp multiple product requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Graphic Design, Digital Media Design or other visual arts
- Ideally 3-5 years experience as a key member of a UI team participating in the complete product development lifecycle of several successfully launched web and/or software applications
- Must demonstrate strong design skills including screen layouts, information design, and typography, and must have a great eye for detail
- Experience working on Finance-focused products and strong finance knowledge required.
- Able to develop new approaches to complex design problems and can convey ideas into tangible form
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently as well as in cross-functional groups
- Works well under pressure and able to meet aggressive deadlines
- Ability to prioritize and manage work to adhere to critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment
- Must have solid grasp of graphic and web design principles and good understanding of current web technologies (html, dhtml). Working knowledge of Flash desired.
