Job Description/ Qualifications:South San Diego Manufacturing Company is seeking a CUSTOMS COMPLIANCE BROKER. The broker will be responsible for the day to day management of processes necessary to ensure the company complies with U.S. import laws and regulations.

*The responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following:
~Assist with the development and enforcement of import/export compliance policies and procedures, including but not limited to Customs, C-TPAT, NAFTA, etc.
~Assessing and maintaining company s ongoing relationships with government-based and industry-based trade and security initiatives (e.g. Customs - Trade Partnership Against Terrorism ( CTPAT )
~Determines and assigns, after careful analysis, the correct tariff classification for all imported products. Maintain product file database.
~Manage existing customs compliance internal controls, policies and procedures and communicate/support the implementation of any new or enhanced compliance procedures routinely.
~Plan and coordinate compliance measures in line with the existing infrastructure to ensure ITW Space Bag is compliant with trade regulations.
~Coordinate both the trade compliance program and the day to day import operations including communication with Customhouse brokers and departments involved in global supply activities.
~Manage record keeping programs, compliance manuals, and written procedures to ensure that operational processes and procedures are consistent and compliant with laws, regulations and established policies.
~Manage NAFTA and other trade programs, valuation review, classification and if deemed necessary, prior disclosures. Maintain required NAFTA documentations.
~Develop and support strategic alliances with business partners to align compliance interest. Participates in cross-functional activities focused on solving business issues and enhancing business unit s competitive advantage.
~Develop and coordinate company trade compliance network through partnership with the key contacts from various departments, including Accounting, Purchasing, Receiving and Inventory Management to communicate customs-related changes and new developments.
~Oversee relationship with Customhouse brokers and negotiating terms and conditions of services to ensure the correct and timely clearance of merchandise through Customs.
~Verify accuracy of import documentation completed by Customs Brokers.
~Contact consolidators/vendors for missing documents required for customs clearance.
~Initiate delivery orders to forwarders/trucking companies and tracking pick-up and delivery of international imports/inbound freight (other than from the Mexico shelter) to the warehouse and/or other properly designated destinations.
~Interface with US Customs and other government agencies to reply to requests for information and to resolve issues and/or problems.
Assist the business with special projects as needed.
