The City of Bothell Police Dept. is seeking applicants for Entry Level Police Officer.
THE COMMUNITY
Located just 20 minutes north of Seattle on the north end of beautiful Lake Washington, Bothell has evolved from an isolated logging village, housing a handful of hardy pioneers, to a multi-faceted, full-service city with a resident population of approximately 30,900 and a business population of about 20,000. Over that time the City has taken on several roles?way station, mill town, local farm supplies and services center, suburban bedroom community, and, within the last decade, regional employment center.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Police Officers perform assigned patrol and/or detective law enforcement work necessary to maintain public peace and order, to protect life and property, to prevent crime, to apprehend suspected violators of the law, and otherwise to assure the enforcement of State laws and City ordinances under the jurisdiction of the office of the Chief of Police.

Education premium: Bachelor degree in an approved field of study: 4% of the officer's base monthly salary.
1. All newly-hired City Police Officers complete one year of probation. At the end of one year and each year thereafter, with satisfactory performance appraisal, Police Officers advance to Police Officer 1, 2, 3 and 4.
2. The City offers medical/dental/vision insurances, vacation, sick leave and retirement plans. Health insurance premiums paid 100% for employees and 90% for spouse and dependents. The City also offers a Section 125 Flexible Spending Account.
3. The City offers a Deferred Compensation Match program currently at 3%.
4. The City strongly supports continuing education and the City will reimburse employees for tuition costs for approved, job-related courses.
5. Bothell Police Officers are represented by the Bothell Police Officers' Guild.

* COMPLETED APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED ONLY AT THE CITY'S HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICE (see above address).
* A non-refundable test fee of $30.00 to cover the costs of testing materials must be returned with completed application.
Your completed packet must include:
* The completed City Application
* The signed Supplemental Form in the application packet;
* The signed waiver for physical ability testing;
* The Veteran's Preference request and DD-214 (if applicable); and
* $30 fee - check, money order or exact change.
The City will accept applications from 350 candidates or until 5:00 p.m. Friday, September 29, 2006 which ever occurs first. All application materials must be complete and received in our office by the closing date to be considered.
