POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for implementing, maintaining and supervising all company LP programs in a single store location; Initiates internal and external investigations for case resolution; Trains store associates on theft prevention and shortage reduction strategies; Analyzes data to identify shortage and theft trends and provides recommendations for solutions. Responsible for executing operational audits and driving safety programs in store.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Initiates investigations and analyzes financial/operational data to detect possible theft and shortage situations. Conducts thorough investigations and manages execution of evidence gathering, documentation, exception reporting and case management. Conducts associate interviews. Partners with store management and HR to determine appropriate disciplinary action, up to and including termination. Submits cases to law enforcement and initiates civil restitution process to recover company losses. Leads in-store programs to ensure high level of awareness on the prevention of internal theft.
Develops and maintains shoplifter prevention and awareness programs. Analyzes inventory data and trends to identify and detect external theft. Directs efforts to prevent theft opportunities and effectively apprehend shoplifters. Participates in detection, apprehension and follow-up of external theft issues. Identifies fraud trends, and initiates investigations and prosecution of bad check writers. Investigates and collects evidence within a store to assist SIU in detecting and apprehending organized theft groups.
Analyzes shortage history and trends for a store specific shortage reduction plan. Conducts monthly shortage meetings. Educates and supports in-store programs to ensure high level of shortage awareness. Conducts operational audits focused on directly improving inventory results and ensures shortage reduction plan compliance.
Executes store programs that promote a safe environment for our customer and associates. Responsible for all aspects of store, facility, and parking lot security. Provides training to store management and associates to ensure crisis response management is implemented in the event of an emergency situation. Drives monthly safety meetings to identify, correct and prevent issues related to safety, including OSHA compliance regulations.
Ensures that all physical security controls and technology are operational and in use. Manages installation and maintenance of all internal and external cameras and associated equipment. Responsible for the testing and communication for needed repairs of all equipment pertaining to physical security, which includes alarm systems, locks, and secured area access.
Facilitates new-hire orientation and training classes for store associates related to general LP practices and shortage reduction. Effectively communicates LP information to the store team through participation in announcements, meetings, email, voicemail and bulletin boards. Attends store management meetings. Partners with HR to ensure background checks and Drug Free Workplace programs are properly executed.
Establishes effective working relationships with local law enforcement agencies and community groups (e.g., Local schools, charities, youth organizations). Ensures that a positive company image is maintained. Builds partnerships with property management to ensure a safe culture.
Understands and utilizes various LP systems and other computer reports, confidential information and other available research to detect and investigate associate theft. Analyzes information to identify and address shortage opportunities. Understands and utilizes closed circuit television (CCTV) systems. Seeks out learning on how to use new LP systems and how to read computer-generated exception based reporting. Stays current on computer upgrades and technology. Trains LP and store associates on the proper use of systems.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Two years investigative and/or retail store experience.
Community College/some college preferred.
Prior supervisory experience preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Thorough knowledge of investigative techniques.
Knowledge of computer reports and their relation to internal investigations.
Knowledge of physical security issues.
Good interpersonal skills.
Strong interviewing skills.
Able to work with highly confidential information.
Able to confront customers or associates in a calm, professional, and diplomatic manner.
