POSITION DESCRIPTION:
This position is a member of the Corporation Law Department's Corporate and Compliance Unit and provides legal advice and counsel on all aspects of the company's involvement in the political law arena. This position also provides ancillary and related legal services to the Policy, Government and Public Affairs Department.

QUALIFICATIONS:

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
Provides direct legal advice and counsel to clients on all aspects of Chevron's interactions within the political law arena [lobbying laws; political contributions to candidates, ballot measure elections and political parties; and gifts to public officials] in all levels and branches of government throughout the United States and outside the United States to the extent required by the Company's business activities. The position also provides the Policy, Government and Public Affairs Department (PGPA) with related legal services pertaining to contract drafting and negotiation for outside political lobbyists and public affairs/relations consultants and other contractors; compliance training; and related government enforcement investigations. This position, from time to time, will also provide general business advice to other clients as circumstances warrant.

SPECIAL SKILLS/REQUIRMENTS OR ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATION/INFORMATION:
- Bachelor's degree required in Law
- Admission to or registration with the California Bar
- Relocation benefits will be considered.
- Some travel required
- Expatriate Assignment will be considered.

SELECTION CRITERIA:
- Demonstrated political law experience at the US Federal (all branches), State or local level of government.
- Demonstrated skill in risk assessment and analytical problem solving.

- Demonstrated ability to negotiate and draft contracts.
