BUSINESS ARCHITECTJob Summary:Under general direction, instructs, directs, and checks the work of other business systems analysts. Formulates and defines systems scope and objectives based on both user needs and a thorough understanding of business systems and industry requirements. Devises or modifies procedures to solve complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operation time, and form of desired results. Includes analysis of business and user needs, documentation of requirements, and translation into proper system requirement specifications. Not only possesses full technical knowledge of most phases of systems analysis, but also considers the business implications of the application of technology to the current and future business environment. May act as a team leader for projects with moderate budgets or of a short to intermediate duration. This individual will own the relationship with customers. This individual will do the requirements gathering and must have an understanding of the "Big Picture". You will be responsible for the quality and functionality of the product. Responsibilities:· Work with a team of business sponsors or analysts, software engineers, project team leaders and quality assurance to create functional and design specifications to meet specific business requirements.· Gathers business requirements by conducting interviews, facilitating in requirements workshops and customer focus groups and by visiting sites.· Interface with middle and senior level executives in the business user community to develop "buy in" and support, develop business implementation strategies, formulate project plans and address specific issues that may impede an implementation· Analyzes the information received from users to distinguish their task needs from functional requirements, business rules, suggested solutions and extraneous information.· Research and analyze alternatives to recommend solutions.· Defines and documents application procedures, processes and functionality across business lines. · Manage and actively participate in the troubleshooting once the products have gone "live".· Demonstrates proficiency in areas such as workflow analysis, document analysis and use case definition. · Provides quantitative measures of project delivery, early warning status, quality performance and process improvement to direct manager.· Provides status reports and overall project plans to management on all projects.· Recommends changes and improvements keeping in line with technology and market place changes.· Maintains customer focus and meets customer expectations.· Assists, coaches and mentors other engagement team members on issues they may encounter in design and implementation of the system.· Assists in developing Service Level Agreements between business community and Information Technology.· Articulates technology solutions to business leaders.· Lead a package selection process for software solutions.
Requirements
REQUIREMENTS:· M.S. and / or industry certifications or equivalent with 5-10 years software industry experience ideally in an Object Oriented MS Window's based environment.· Strong Process background: 5 + years experience with a variety of methodologies· Depth of experience across a broad spectrum of business applications i.e. CRM, Finance, Sales& Marketing· Experience with Data Warehousing is preferred, in lieu of this then depth of experience with software development with Object Oriented and Web based applications.· Experience with either Business Objects or Cognos preferred· Workflow analysis· Use Case analysis· UML Modeling· Logical database design· Software design· Resource estimation· Project life cycle development· Internet· Outlook (email/calendar/tasks)· PowerPoint (presentation development)· Microsoft Office suite· Visio· Requirements/Modeling application (e.g. RationalRose, Popkin, System Architect)· Able to present to both individuals and mid size groups ranging from subordinates and peers to senior management. · Proficient with oral and written communicationProfessional attributes· Responsive to customer needs· Effective communicator· Integrity· Successful adapting to change· Attention to detail (both oral and written)· Demonstrates professionalism · Effective time & prioritization management Potential for up to 15% Travel
