FEE PAID BY COMPANY! This is a salaried exempt position. Reports to the Vice President and Chief Supply Chain Officer.
Summary: Responsible for the execution of the overall strategic direction for materials and logistics management. This will include actions and policies that affect planning, procurement, storage, control and distribution of materials and products to meet customer requirements and quality, production and financial objectives. Focus shall be to improve quality while reducing costs. Reductions shall not be purely in materials but reflect in reductions for total variable costs. Responsible for identifying and leveraging consolidated synergies. This shall include areas such as the recommendation and leverage of consolidated volumes and designs, international vendor development, improved vendor selection evaluation methods and verification of ongoing compliance, process improvements for the entire value chain, etc. Responsible for vendor contracts on major items, including freight. Responsible for transportation and delivery of all products and materials delivered to any consolidated unit and for the products and materials shipped from and between all consolidated, distributor and customer locations.
Essential Job Functions:
Develop and Implement systems to assure optimum inventory levels and on-time deliveries to meet customer requirements, while minimizing carrying costs and transportation charges.
Provide innovation in contracting prices. Oversee the purchasing and/or contracting for materials, supplies, equipment, and services for the operation of the Company. Confer with requesting parties when specific sources are requested. Investigate and solve problems resulting from material shortages, however caused.
Establish and maintain purchasing practices, contracts, assessment and policies to insure honest, fair, and ethical relationships with our vendors.
Responsible for continuing programs of exploration for new materials, suppliers and processes to achieve the best possible quality, reliability, prices, continuity, and delivery, while working with design and manufacturing teams to help reduce our warranty costs.
Keep abreast of materials, markets and materials pricing trends that affect Company products.
Provide direction for evaluation implementing and maintaining systems to optimize the procurement and maintenance of all product materials.
Develop policies and assure compliance in all aspects of export and import duties and tarifs, regulations, as well as Department of Transportation and other laws regarding the transportation of materials.
Responsible for developing and maintaining the most efficient and economical methods to transport raw materials and components utilized in all products at all locations.
Responsible for the negotiations, contractual agreements and management of all transportation suppliers for products incoming and those being delivered to customers.
Responsible for the supervision of all materials and traffic personnel in the Fort Payne location.

Contacts: (Internal and External): Heavy contact with operations personnel and suppliers including telephone, written and supplier visits. Frequent travel to domestic locations. Light international travel possible.
Job Specifications:
Education: College degree in Business or management preferred. Masters degree a definite plus.
Experience: Minimum 6 years experience in the management of total logistics systems, including traffic and shipping a major plus.
Languages: Foreign language skills a plus.
Supervision: Works under limited supervision, handles routine matters on own initiative.
Responsibility: Exercises high degree of judgement in matters related to materials, design, manufacturing, logistics and corporate compliance.
