Company Description:


Our client is a publicly traded development stage company that has developed and tested a proprietary new Laser technology. This technology is multifunctional in capability, with various military, homeland defense and law enforcement applications.





General Description of Position:


Manages and directs engineering department. Supports research organization, programs office and production to ensure all engineering activities support companies strategic direction. Must execute product design to meet company objectives. Develop systems and controls to ensure compliance with quality standards. Priorities include strategic planning, product design, quality assurance and problem resolution. Develops and directs procedures and methods to ensure proper engineering protocols are met and maintained. Manages and builds BOM's. Recommends methods, materials and layouts for improvement based on manufacturing needs and capabilities.





Responsibilities:


- Structure staff and organize the engineering department to meet the needs of company


- Manage engineering activities to support several programs related to companies products


- Represent company during high level technical sessions through verbal and written communications to customers, peers and industry experts


- Provide technical support, guidance and career development to engineers and technicians


- Contribute to the strategic goals of company





Measure of Performance / Accountability:


- Provides engineering support to meet schedules and project budgets


- Accountable to lead engineering personnel towards personal and career objectives


- Provides accurate estimates of project time and associated costs


- Provides effective training to subordinates


- Help define new products and markets as member of management staff





Qualifications:


- Advanced degree in an engineering discipline


- Experience with resource management techniques including scheduling, contingency planning and manpower allocation


- Knowledge of industry or government standards applicable to Companies products


- Minimum 10 years experience with "hands on" design in an advanced engineering development environment


- Minimum 5 years experience as a manager for a multi-disciplined engineering design group including mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, software engineers and systems engineers.


- Successful administration of groups larger than 20 people


- Proven administration of budgets


- Excellent oral and written skills


- Experienced with administering, monitoring and controlling of external engineering development and testing agencies
