Job Summary and Mission
This job contributes to Starbucks success by developing and managing a shared resource pool of project managers to enhance IT solution delivery through effective program and project management. Contributes to development and maintenance of methodologies, standards, tools and training for managing projects based on industry best practices. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.
Summary of Key Responsibilities

Leadership - Setting goals for the work group, developing organizational capability, and modeling how we work together:
Identifies and communicates key responsibilities and practices to ensure the immediate team of direct reports promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results.
Leads the development of core competencies in information technology project management, for deployment through a shared resource pool of trained information technology project managers.
Supports the implementation of company programs to ensure the success of the Company.Planning and Execution - Developing strategic and operational plans for the work group, managing execution, and measuring results:
Allocates project managers to information technology solution delivery initiatives in accordance with company strategies and priorities.
Contributes to development of standards, processes, tools and training to support the development of core competencies in information technology (IT) program and project management, based on industry best practices.
Facilitates governance of project management execution to enhance quality and timeliness of solution delivery initiatives.
Leads the Company in meeting information technology solution delivery commitments through development, implementation and governance of processes that enable IT program and project management.
Monitors, measures and reports on effectiveness and results of project management team.
Plans and manages business unit/department processes and practices to ensure that programs are aligned with company business goals and objectives.
Prepares, communicates and educates client groups and team on changes in policies and practices within the organization.Business Requirements - Providing functional expertise and executing functional responsibilities:
Assists Information Technology teams with planning for and preparing project managers to manage solution delivery programs and projects in accordance with established standards and practices.
Develops, manages and deploys trained project managers from a shared resource pool to manage information technology solution delivery projects or programs.
Mentors, coaches and provides training to project managers to increase their competencies in key knowledge areas of project management, including project integration, scope, time management and management of costs, quality, human resources, communications, risk and procurement.
Provides expertise, input or feedback to assist in the development of program and project management methodologies, standards, tools and training.Partner Development & Team Building - Providing partners with coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities and building effective teams:
Challenges and inspires partners to achieve business results.
Conducts and ensures the completion of performance reviews.
Ensures partners adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements.
Oversees training and development of partners directly and indirectly managed and makes effective staffing decisions.
Provides coaching, direction and leadership support to team members in order to achieve partner, business and customer results.
Qualifications
Summary of Experience
Information technology program and project management (6 years)
Technology management experience with full profit and loss accountability for technology investments in a Fortune 1000 firm with a global, multi-unit and high-growth profile (6 years)
Application of industry-based systems development life cycle and project management methodologies (5 years)
Varied information technology experience, including applications, information, infrastructure and the systems development life cycle (5 years)
Business and system process analysis and design (3 years)
General management (3 years)
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
Ability to lead projects to completion
Ability to lead and mentor team members
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Ability to apply knowledge of multidisciplinary business principles and practices to achieve successful outcomes in cross-functional projects and activities
Sound understanding of general business principles and company goals and objectives
Advanced knowledge of system architecture and design principles, practices and enabling tools
Advanced knowledge of information technology portfolio, program and project management principles, best practices and enabling tools
Ability to establish cross-functional, collaborative relationships with business and technology partners
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Project
